Minimum Requirements

Brodhead Fire District minimum requirements once your application period is complete. Members must pick at least one of the following to complete: Firefighter, Motor-Pump Operator (driver), and/or Emergency Medical Responder. The training will be provided thru a local technical college such as MATC or Blackhawk Technical College at no cost to the volunteer.

Many opt to do all three classes plus more, but you have to take at least one of these to remain on the Brodhead Fire District.

Benefits

Members are paid per hour while on a call based on  certifications they have. Members are paid for coming to trainings and meetings.

Members are also enrolled into a Service Award Program through the state, which matches some of the contributed funds. This is a retirement system with invested funds.

Members are also part of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Association and have Life Insurance Coverage.

If accepted for probationary membership you will have to pass a physical prior to starting any fire department duties. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion or national origin.
